Frequently Asked Questions
Not every surgeon routinely recommends lymphatic drainage as part of their post-operative instructions, but most cosmetic surgeons in Dubai do. The absence of a specific recommendation does not mean it is not beneficial — it means different surgical practices have different standard aftercare protocols. If you are experiencing significant swelling, tightness, or areas of hardness after liposuction, lymphatic drainage massage is worth discussing with your surgeon or booking a session to assess your current recovery state.
Yes, though the approach changes. In the early post-operative period, the goal is to prevent fibrosis from developing. Two months post-surgery, if hard areas are present, the focus shifts to working with established fibrotic changes — softening them through sustained technique rather than prevention. Results take longer at this stage but improvement is still achievable with consistent sessions.
Combined procedures mean the recovery is more complex — more tissue is involved, there are typically more drainage concerns, and the session needs to account for both the liposuction areas and the abdominoplasty incision. Sessions for combined procedures are usually longer and the early phase requires more care around the tummy tuck incision line. Your therapist assesses both aspects of your recovery at your first visit.
In the first few days after surgery, the treated areas are bruised, tender, and sensitive. The technique used at this stage is deliberately very light and should not cause pain. Some clients feel mild discomfort when the therapist works near areas of active bruising — if this happens, let your therapist know immediately and they will adjust. As recovery progresses and sensitivity reduces, the sessions become more comfortable.
Most clients are not ready for a session the day immediately after surgery — the first 24 hours are typically spent resting and managing initial discomfort. Day two or day three is usually when the first session is most appropriate. Message us on WhatsApp with your surgery date and we will advise on the right time to start based on your specific procedure.
